27. Benjamin Meade
Loudoun Co. Deed Book 2-0, pp. 457-58, gift Deed, March 6, 1770 : "...Between Samuel MEADE Senior of Salem Co. and province of West New Jersey,farmer of the one part and Benjamin MEADE his son of the Co. of Loudoun,Colony of Virginia on the other part ..."
Loudoun Co. Order Book, "Samuel and John Wilks delivered Samuel MEADE's gift to Benjamin MEADE his son, March 3, 1770."
Other Loudoun Co. deeds involved Benjamin: Benjamin's will, Loudoun Co.Will Book I, pp. 157-59, dated Jan 17, 1810 , proven by affirmation Mar12, 1810; names wife ANN, children MARGARET, CHRISTIAN, ASENTH, SAMUEL, JOHN, AQUILLA, and JOSEPH.
Witnesses to inventory were Israel Janney, Blackstone Janney, and George Fairhurst -- the Janneys being neighbors of Francis Wilks also.
Benjamin was condemned for his marriage out of unity and disowned on 29 Feb 1772 for the report of his marriage to Hannah Clews, daughter of Thomas Clews.
25 Nov 1780 : Benjamin's request for admission to the Sociey:
"To Fairfax Monthly Meeting, Dear Friends:
Whereas I the subscriber have had my birth and education among people called Quakers but for want of strictly adhering to the dictates of truth in my breast have so fair misconducted as to accomplish my marriage contrary to the good order used amongst them having of late been favored with a sight and sense of my deviations, do hereby condemn the same desiring Friends would pass it by and receive me unto membership again hoping in the future to be more watchful". Signed by Benjamin MEADE
27 Jan 1781: The committee report of Benjamin MEADE it appears that he is in a good degree sincere in his acknowledgment and he being present it is accepted. He requests that his children may be esteemed members of our Society to which no objection appears, they being in the minority. This meeting grants his request and they are admitted members. Their names are Margaret, Christian, Asenath, and Samuel.
At meetings held Feb and March of 1785, Benjamin and Ann Patterson signified their intentions to marry.
31 Mar 1785 at Goose Creek, VA Meeting House, Benjamin MEADE and Ann Patterson were married.
